On May 24, 2007, Vice Foreign Minister Wu Dawei attended the annual conference of Chinese Society of International Law (CSIL) and made a speech on behalf of the foreign ministry.

He recognized the major contributions made by the CSIL to China's diplomatic undertaking and maintaining national sovereignty, security and development over the past 27 years since its establishment, expected the organization to conduct systemic and deep study and raise workable suggestions on how to build a "harmonious world" from the perspective of international legal system construction and make unprecedented contributions in this brand-new field and expressed hope that joint efforts could be made to push forward the research, development and innovation of international law theories in China, take an active part in the building of international legal system and try to reflect our national will and values and protect our national interest with law.
