On January 16, 2008, Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao met with visiting Deputy Prime Minister & Finance Minister of Finland Jyrki Katainen at the Great Hall of the People.

Wen highlighted the rapid growth of bilateral relations in recent years and made positive comments deepening exchanges and cooperation in all areas. China is ready to work with Finland to push forward bilateral friendly cooperative ties, he added.

Katainen spoke highly of the achievements China had made in reform and opening up and modernization drive. He said Finland welcomed Chinese enterprises to invest and establish businesses in the country, adding that his country is ready to work with China to continue advancing bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation.
