Wang Yi Co-chairs the Second Meeting of the China-Indonesia High-level Dialogue Cooperation Mechanism

On July 9, 2022 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi co-chaired the second meeting of the China-Indonesia High-level Dialogue Cooperation Mechanism with Indonesia's Coordinator for Cooperation with China and Coordinating Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on the Bali Island. Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi attended the meeting.

Luhut said, Indonesia-China relations bear strategic significance and global influence. The two countries have carried out all-round, wide-ranging and multi-tier cooperation with a commitment to building a community with a shared future. Indonesia supports and stands ready to actively participate in the Global Development Initiative and the Global Security Initiative, both put forward by President Xi Jinping. Retno said, Indonesia highly cherishes the close and sound coordination with China, and stands ready to take the opportunity of assuming the presidency of the Group of Twenty (G20) to work with China to focus on current pressing issues such as peace, food and energy security, and make contributions to the development and prosperity in the region and the world at large.

Wang Yi congratulated Indonesia on successfully hosting the G20 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, and said that China will firmly support Indonesia in successfully hosting this year's summit. Currently, the international situation is witnessing the intertwined forces of transformation and turbulence. The future of China and Indonesia, both major developing countries, are closely linked, and the responsibilities we shoulder are even greater. The two heads of state have maintained strategic communication to steer bilateral relations. The two sides have determined the general direction of building a China-Indonesia community with a shared future, and forged a new pattern of bilateral cooperation featuring "four-wheel drive" covering political, economic, cultural and maritime aspects, demonstrating great vitality and strong resilience of bilateral relations. Following the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, China is ready to work with Indonesia to continue taking the lead in solidarity and cooperation among regional and developing countries, and forge an exemplary model of mutual benefit, win-win results and common development, as well as a vanguard of South-South cooperation, so as to make greater contributions to maintaining regional stability and promoting world peace.

The two sides comprehensively took stock of the progress in pragmatic cooperation between the two countries in various fields, and reached broad consensus.

The two sides are satisfied with the fruitful results of economic and trade cooperation between the two countries, especially the increase in trade volume, which ranked first among ASEAN countries last year. The two sides will continue to promote more balanced and high-quality development of economic and trade cooperation.

The two sides spoke highly of the progress made in development-financing cooperation, and will carry out more financing cooperation on conventional infrastructure and new infrastructure projects in a multi-pronged manner.

The two sides will continue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, deepen the integration of industrial, supply and value chains, and jointly forge a hub for regional development, so as to help the global post-pandemic economic recovery.

The two sides will advance landmark projects such as the Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, the Regional Comprehensive Economic Corridor and the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" at a faster pace, expand cooperation on digital economy and green development, and strengthen cooperation in agriculture, poverty alleviation and food security. China will expand imports of Indonesian quality agricultural and fishery products.

The two sides will strengthen anti-pandemic cooperation. China supports Indonesia in forging a regional vaccine center, and stands ready to help Indonesia increase vaccine production capacity and advance the construction of a joint research center for vaccines and genes.

The two sides will also strengthen cooperation in law enforcement, security, cultural and people-to-people exchanges, and other fields.

After the meeting, the two sides jointly witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation documents.
