Han Zheng Attends the Sixth Bloomberg New Economy Forum and Visits Singapore

From November 7 to 8, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng attended the sixth Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore, and visited Singapore upon invitation.

Han Zheng delivered a keynote speech at the opening ceremony of the forum. Han Zheng said, facing profound changes in the world, the times and history, President Xi Jinping put forward the major vision of building a human community with a shared future, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative and the Global Civilization Initiative, and called for ushering the Belt and Road cooperation into a new stage of high-quality development, contributing China's proposal to meeting the common challenges facing mankind and building a better world. China is ready to work with other countries to seize the development opportunities of the times, jointly address risks and challenges, and create a better future for mankind together.

Han Zheng put forward three proposals. First, seek cooperation through opening-up. China will unswervingly promote high-standard opening-up, and is willing to provide more market and investment opportunities and share the benefits of China's institutional opening-up with companies in various countries. Second, create more dynamics through innovation. China will share more innovation achievements with other countries, jointly address the challenges of climate change and inject new momentum into global economic growth. Third, promote development through peace. China is willing to work with other countries to maintain world peace and security, seek development and prosperity together, and build a human community with a shared future.

Han Zheng pointed out that the recent important high-level contacts between China and the United States have raised the international community's positive expectations for the improvement of China-U.S. relations in the future. China has always viewed and handled China-U.S. relations in accordance with the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation proposed by President Xi Jinping. China is willing to strengthen communication and dialogue with the U.S. side at all levels, promote mutually beneficial cooperation, properly manage differences, and make joint efforts to tackle global challenges.

Han Zheng also met with the founder of the Bloomberg New Economy Forum and Bloomberg L.P. Mike Bloomberg and had a group meeting with guest representatives attending the forum.

During his visit to Singapore, Han Zheng met with Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat, and Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean, respectively.

When meeting with Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Han Zheng conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings, saying that China and Singapore, as each other's close neighbors and important partners for cooperation, set a fine example of friendly exchanges between countries. Thanks to the joint efforts of both sides, bilateral cooperation has shown strong resilience and great vitality, and it is believed that more and better outcomes will be achieved in the future. The world today faces many global risks and challenges, and no country can stay unaffected. It is necessary for all countries to uphold true multilateralism, build consensus and work together. China will inject more certainty into the world with its stability and bring more and new opportunities to the world with its new development.

Tharman Shanmugaratnam asked Han Zheng to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, saying that standing at a new historical starting point, the leaders of the two countries have upgraded bilateral relations to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership, charting the course for the development of bilateral relations. Singapore is ready to deepen practical cooperation with China in various fields to deliver more benefits to the two peoples.

When meeting with Lee Hsien Loong, Han Zheng said, President Xi Jinping and Mr. Prime Minister upgraded the China-Singapore relationship to an all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership in March this year, which is of milestone significance in the process of bilateral relations. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the birthday of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew. Singapore is advancing its modernization process with Oriental values and an international perspective, and blazes a development path suited to its national conditions. China is ready to work with Singapore to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, promote the upgrade of bilateral cooperation projects, enhance personnel exchanges and people-to-people and cultural exchanges between the two countries, fully capitalize on bilateral cooperation mechanisms, put the new positioning of bilateral relations into practice, and make new contributions to regional prosperity and stability.

Lee Hsien Loong said, Singapore and China enjoy profound traditional friendship. Singapore is ready to work with China to deepen the synergy between development strategies, hold a new round of meetings of bilateral cooperation mechanisms, and lift the all-round high-quality future-oriented partnership between Singapore and China to a new level.
