On October 12, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng met in Beijing with the U.S. representatives attending the fifth meeting of the China-U.S. Eminent Persons Forum.

Han Zheng said that as the world's two largest economies, China and the United States share far more common interests than differences and need to strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation in economy and trade, science and technology, and climate response. China has always viewed and handled its relations with the United States in accordance with the three principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation put forth by President Xi Jinping. Under the current circumstances, it is of particular importance for China and the United States to strengthen communication and dialogue at all levels, which is conducive to enhancing understanding and mutual trust, building consensus, properly managing differences, and creating sound conditions for practical cooperation in various fields. Han Zheng expressed the hope that representatives from both sides attending the forum will have candid exchanges and actively make proposals on the development of China-U.S. relations, wishing the forum a complete success.

The U.S. representatives said that U.S.-China relations are important to both countries and the world at large, and they look forward to jointly discussing cooperation and achieving practical results through the dialogue at the forum, while contributing wisdom to bringing U.S.-China relations back to a sound and steady track.
