Han Zheng Visits Malaysia

From November 9 to 11, 2023 local time, Vice President Han Zheng paid a visit to Malaysia upon invitation, and met respectively with Supreme Head of Malaysia Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah in Kuala Lumpur and Prime Minister of Malaysia Anwar Ibrahim in Putrajaya.

When meeting with Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, Han Zheng first conveyed President Xi Jinping's cordial greetings to Supreme Head Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, and said that China and Malaysia, as friendly neighbors across the sea, enjoy a time-honored friendship. Next year, the two countries will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. China is ready to work with Malaysia to jointly promote the further development of bilateral relations, take the joint building of a China-Malaysia community with a shared future as a guide to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, jointly push forward the implementation of their respective national development plans, and constantly substantiate and enrich the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries. China has always upheld the principle of "planning together, building together, and benefiting together" and deepened cooperation with neighboring countries. China is ready to strengthen practical cooperation in various fields with ASEAN countries, including Malaysia, to promote sustained prosperity, stability and development in the region.

Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah asked Han Zheng to convey his sincere greetings to President Xi Jinping, and congratulated China on the great achievements of the Belt and Road Initiative. He thanked China for its robust economic growth driving the development of ASEAN countries, and expressed willingness to further upgrade bilateral cooperation to better benefit the people of both countries.

When meeting with Anwar Ibrahim, Han Zheng said that China and Malaysia enjoy everlasting friendship, and the friendship between the two countries has grown with new vitality as time goes by. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia. President Xi Jinping and Mr. Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim have reached important common understandings on building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, drawing a blueprint for the development of bilateral relations in the new era, which is of great milestone significance. China and Malaysia are exemplary in friendly exchanges between countries. China regards Malaysia as a trustworthy friend and important strategic partner, has always supported Malaysia in choosing a development path suitable to its own national conditions, and is ready to work with Malaysia to firmly support each other on issues concerning respective core interests. China is ready to work with Malaysia to jointly advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, encourage closer communication and exchanges at all levels and in all regions between the two countries, expand cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, culture, tourism, education, and science and technology, and continuously enhance the friendship between the two peoples, so as to add new dimensions and inject new impetus into the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

Anwar Ibrahim said that Malaysia-China relations bear special and strategic significance. Malaysia firmly supports the vision of building a community with a shared future for mankind, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative. Malaysia is ready to work with China to actively promote Belt and Road cooperation. Malaysia is full of expectations for the future of bilateral relations, and Chinese enterprises are welcome to invest and do business in Malaysia, so as to achieve common development.

Han Zheng also met with Deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, had an in-depth exchange of views on advancing bilateral practical cooperation, and said that the eight steps for high-quality Belt and Road cooperation announced by President Xi Jinping will give a strong boost to advancing Belt and Road cooperation and high-quality development of the two countries. The two sides agreed to further enhance high-level exchanges and deepen strategic communication.

On November 10, Han Zheng visited Penang, met with Chief Minister of the State of Penang Chow Kon Yeow, and said that China welcomes the State of Penang to continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China's provinces and municipalities, give play to local features, realize complementarity of advantages, and take concrete measures to build a China-Malaysia community with a shared future.

During his visit to Malaysia, Han Zheng visited Geely-Proton Tanjung Malim Plant, and Inari Amertron Berhad. He also visited Penang Philomathic Union Sun Yat-Sen Centre, and Pinang Peranakan Mansion.
