On November 29, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng had a group meeting with representatives from both sides participating in the 14th Plenary Session of the China-Russia Friendship Committee for Peace and Development in Beijing.

Han Zheng said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Vladimir Putin, the China-Russia comprehensive strategic partnership of coordination for a new era has enjoyed sustained, sound and steady development, with continuously deepening political mutual trust, steady progress in practical cooperation and increasingly solid public support. This year, the two heads of state had face-to-face meetings twice, making comprehensive arrangements for the development of bilateral relations and also charting the course for promoting people-to-people friendship between China and Russia. He expressed the hope that the committee will follow through on the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state and take the opportunity of celebrating the 75th anniversary of China-Russia diplomatic relations and holding the Year of Culture next year to give full play to the strong cohesion, appeal and impetus of people-to-people diplomacy, in a bid to make new and greater contributions to the development of bilateral relations.

Chairman of the Russian side of the committee Boris Titov said that Russia-China relations are at a historical high, with outstanding achievements in people-to-people and cultural exchanges and practical cooperation. The committee will seize the important timing next year to continue to promote people-to-people exchanges between the two countries and help Russia-China relations continuously reach new heights.
