On November 28, 2023 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Foreign Minister of Malaysia Zambry Abd Kadir in New York.

Wang Yi said that this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Malaysia. Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim successfully paid a visit to China. President Xi Jinping and Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim reached important common understandings on jointly building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future, injecting important impetus into the growth of relations between the two countries. Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. China is ready to work with Malaysia to follow the guidance of jointly building a China-Malaysia community with a shared future to further deepen exchanges and cooperation in various fields and constantly elevate China-Malaysia relations to new heights.

Zambry Abd Kadir said that China is a reliable good friend of Malaysia. Malaysia attaches great importance to its relations with China, and stands ready to work with China to make sound plans for the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year, and maintain the momentum of high-level mutual visits, so as to push for the greater development of relations between the two countries. The two sides will soon launch the visa-free border-entry measure towards each other, which is widely popular good news and will greatly facilitate personnel exchanges between the two countries. Zambry Abd Kadir expressed the expectation that more Chinese tourists will visit Malaysia.

The two sides had an exchange of views on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Wang Yi said that it is the position that every responsible country should take to forestall the resurgence and expansion of the war and prevent the escalation of the humanitarian crisis. The Security Council high-level meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli issue is to be held by China at the request of Arab states and Islamic countries in order to push for higher-level consensus at the Security Council on a ceasefire and end of war, send a united message and take more robust measures. The meeting is to be held at the crucial juncture of the last day of the temporary ceasefire agreement. Wang Yi said, "We must not let the war be rekindled, and must not let more innocent civilians be hurt, and the meeting should send a clear message on that endeavor." All parties should push for more smooth and sustained access of humanitarian materials to Gaza to de-escalate the local humanitarian crisis. When following the situation on the ground, all parties should be encouraged to reach consensus on resuming the two-state solution for a comprehensive and lasting settlement of the Palestinian question. China stands ready to work with all other parties to make positive efforts to that end.

Zambry Abd Kadir said that China has an important influence in the international community, and always upholds the just position on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. He also said that on learning that China will convene a Security Council high-level meeting, Prime Minister Dato' Seri Anwar Bin Ibrahim instructed him to attend the meeting in New York. Malaysia believes that China will play the leading role in proposing specific initiatives to promote the settlement of the current crisis in line with the aspirations of the vast majority of countries in the international community. Malaysia fully agrees with China's position that the Security Council should forestall the resurgence of war, speed up humanitarian assistance and relieve the humanitarian crisis. On that basis, all parties should explore lasting settlement methods through the two-state solution. Malaysia stands ready to work closely with China to make the meeting a success.
