On December 7, 2023, Vice President Han Zheng met with President of the National Congress of Honduras Luis Redondo in Beijing.

Han Zheng said that in March this year, with the wise decision-making of the two heads of state, China and Honduras officially established diplomatic relations. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, China-Honduras relations have gotten off to a strong and good start, showing broad prospects for development. China is ready to work with Honduras to actively implement the important common understandings reached by the two heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, bring the two peoples closer to each other, strengthen multilateral coordination, and push for deep, substantive, steady and sustained bilateral relations. China is willing to walk hand in hand with Honduras on the path to modernization, strengthen exchanges, mutual learning, solidarity and cooperation, and achieve mutual benefit and common development.

Luis Redondo said that the establishment of diplomatic relations with China marks a historic decision made by Honduras with a long-term perspective and in line with the will of the people. Honduras firmly abides by the one-China principle, and the National Congress of Honduras is willing to contribute to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and enhancing friendship between the two peoples.
