On January 23, 2024, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Zhao Leji met with Politburo Member of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee and President of the Central Committee of the Lao Front for National Construction (LFNC) Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune in Beijing.

Zhao Leji said that China views and develops its relations with Laos from a strategic perspective, and is ready to work with Laos to take the important common understandings reached between the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries as the fundamental guidance, and advance the building of a China-Laos community with a shared future in the new era with high standards, high quality and high level, so as to add new dimensions to relations between the two parties and the two countries. The NPC of China is willing to strengthen friendly exchanges with the Lao National Assembly and the LFNC, exchange experience in governance, advance democracy and the rule of law in their respective countries, promote practical cooperation between the two countries, and help build a China-Laos community with a shared future.

Sinlavong Khoutphaythoune said Laos firmly adheres to the one-China principle and is willing to work with China to follow through on the important common understandings between the top leaders of the two parties and the two countries, and push for the continuous development of Laos-China relations. The LFNC is willing to contribute to promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries and enhancing the friendship between the two peoples.
