Han Zheng Meets with President of Dominican Republic's Chamber of Deputies Alfredo Pacheco

On January 17, 2024, Vice President Han Zheng met with President of the Dominican Republic's Chamber of Deputies Alfredo Pacheco in Beijing via video link.

Han Zheng said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Dominican Republic more than five years ago, under the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, bilateral relations have maintained a sound momentum of development and friendly cooperation in various fields has achieved remarkable results. China appreciates the Dominican Republic's adherence to the one-China principle and is willing to work with the Dominican Republic to actively implement the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, consolidate political mutual trust, expand practical cooperation, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and enhance people-to-people bond, so as to work for solid and sustained progress in bilateral relations. China attaches great importance to the Dominican Republic's unique role in regional affairs and will strengthen communication and coordination with the Dominican Republic within frameworks including the China-CELAC Forum and the Central American Parliament to push for new progress in China's relations with Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries and overall China-LAC cooperation.

Pacheco said the Dominican Republic firmly abides by the one-China principle, and China plays an important role in the multipolar world. The Chamber of Deputies of the Dominican Republic is willing to make positive efforts to enhance the friendship between the two peoples.
