Li Qiang Meets with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev

On the morning of January 24, 2024, Premier Li Qiang of the State Council met with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who is on a state visit to China, at the Great Hall of the People.

Li Qiang said that in recent years, under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, China-Uzbekistan relations have achieved leapfrog development and cooperation in various fields has been strengthened comprehensively. China is willing to continue to work with Uzbekistan to follow through on the important common understandings reached between the two heads of state, adhere to mutual understanding, mutual respect, and mutual support, carry forward the traditional friendship, consolidate solidarity and mutual trust, expand mutually beneficial cooperation, accelerate the building of a China-Uzbekistan community with a shared future and join hands to create a promising future for the two countries.

Li Qiang pointed out that China is willing to be Uzbekistan's good friend, good partner, and good brother. The two sides should support each other firmly on issues concerning each other's core interests, including national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. Guided by advancing high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to expand and improve economic, trade, and investment cooperation, strengthen the physical connectivity of infrastructure including the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan highway and railway and promote the institutional connectivity of technology, standards, rules and others, tap the potential of green cooperation in new energy and other fields, and strengthen people-to-people and cultural exchanges cooperation in fields such as culture, education and tourism, and at the sub-national level, so as to better promote mutual benefits, win-win results, and common development.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev said that under the dynamic leadership of President Xi Jinping, China has made great achievements in economic and social development. Uzbekistan values its relations with China and appreciates China's support for Uzbekistan's efforts to safeguard its sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. Uzbekistan adheres unwaveringly to the one-China principle and firmly works with China to combat the three forces of terrorism, separatism, and extremism. Uzbekistan is willing to learn from China's successful experience in development, further deepen bilateral cooperation in such fields as economy, trade, investment, agriculture, finance, production capacity, infrastructure development, connectivity, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges, and at the sub-national level, open a new era of all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and China, and joint build an Uzbekistan-China community with a shared future. Uzbekistan welcomes more Chinese enterprises to invest and do business in the country, and will provide a sound business environment for them.
