On December 29, 2023, the Commemoration and Commendation Conference Marking the 60th Anniversary of China Dispatching International Medical Aid Teams was held in Beijing. Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), President of the People’s Republic of China and Chairman of the Central Military Commission had a cordial meeting with the representatives, expressed warm congratulations to them and extended sincere regards to all those who are or were on foreign medical aid missions.

Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the General Office of the CPC Central Committee Cai Qi was present at the meeting.

At about 11:30 a.m., Xi Jinping and others arrived at the East Hall of the Great Hall of the People amid a warm round of applause. Xi Jinping and others waved to the representatives and had a cordial exchange with them before taking a group photo together.

Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Liu Guozhong attended the meeting and delivered a speech at the conference. He said, the CPC Central Committee attaches great importance to international medical aid work, and General Secretary Xi Jinping fully acknowledges the achievements that have been made in this regard. Over the past 60 years, the vast number of medical workers have benefited local people with their medical proficiency and ethics, and communicated China's stories well with concrete actions, which has won high praise from the governments and people of the recipient countries. On the new journey and in the new era, it is necessary to follow the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly act upon the important instructions of General Secretary Xi Jinping, continue to carry forward the spirit of the Chinese medical team, and strive to open up new prospects for international medical aid work, so as to make greater contributions to the building of a global community of health for all.

Thirty national outstanding groups and sixty outstanding individuals for international medical aid were commended at the conference. The commended representatives made remarks.
