2024-02-28 23:00

On February 28, 2024, Vice President Han Zheng met with Director General of the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) International Kirsten Schuijt in Beijing.

Han Zheng said that under the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Ecological Civilization, the Chinese government has firmly established and practiced the concept of green development and has made remarkable achievements in building a beautiful China. WWF, one of the world's largest environmental organizations, was invited to China in the 1980s to carry out cooperation on giant panda protection, and has made positive contributions to promoting China's ecological environment and sustainable development. The natural environment is a foundation of human survival, which is hard to restore once sabotaged. China attaches great importance to environmental protection, and is a participant, contributor and trailblazer in the effort to build a global ecological civilization. China is ready to further cooperate closely with WWF to jointly cope with the global ecological challenges.

Kirsten Schuijt highly appreciated the important role that China plays in global nature conservation and ecological governance, and expressed willingness to strengthen cooperation with China in protecting global biological diversity and promoting sustainable development worldwide.
