On December 15, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with outgoing Ambassador and Head of Mission of Cambodia to China Khek Cai Mealy Sysoda in Beijing.

Wang Yi appreciates the positive contributions made by Khek Cai Mealy Sysoda to developing the China-Cambodia friendship, promoting the friendship between the Cambodian Royal Family and Chinese leaders, and strengthening exchanges and cooperation between the mission to China and the Chinese side over the past 17 years during her tenure as Ambassador to China. Wang Yi said that the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia is unbreakable, and bilateral relations have continuously stepped up to new levels and demonstrated new heights, bringing tangible benefits to the people of the two countries. China is ready to work with Cambodia to inherit and carry forward the traditional friendship between China and Cambodia, and continue to open up new prospects in bilateral relations. He expressed the hope that Her Excellency Ambassador will continue to make new contributions to the cause of China-Cambodian friendship in her new post.

Khek Cai Mealy Sysoda thanked the Chinese side for its strong support during her tenure, saying that during her mission in China, she witnessed the vigorous development achievements and the outcomes of openness and cooperation, as well as the continuous progress of Cambodia-China relations, and believing that China's future will be even brighter. The new Cambodian government is firmly committed to deepening the traditional friendship between Cambodia and China. She will continue to make her contribution to promoting friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and China.
