Forepassed Official Activities of Chinese Consulate in Laoag

Since its arrival in Laoag City late January, the Consulate actively developed contacts with local government officials and social personalities, building friendly relations and enhancing mutual friendship and successively paid courtesy call to the Governor of Ilocos Norte and Mayor of Laoag City.

On February 7th, Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post paid a courtesy call to Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., Governor of Ilocos Norte and had a cordial talk. Chen expressed his thanks to the Governor for his great support and help and conveyed the  regards and good wishes from Han Yuqun, Governor of Shandong Province. Governor Marcos warmly greeted the establishment of the new Chinese Consulate in Laoag City, and expressed his willingness to provide assistance by any means.

 

                                  

On February 12th, Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post was invited to make a speech at the office of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Ilocos Norte. In his speech, Chen introduced China's foreign policy of Friendly Relations of Good-Neighbourhood, China-Philippine bilateral cooperations in trade, culture, tourism and other fields in recent years. He said that, the Consulate would further promote bilateral friendly relations, actively enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples, and facilitate the friendly cooperations between China and Northern Philippine in terms of trade, agriculture, tourism and personnel contacts.
At the end, on behalf of Shandong Province, Chen gave his best regards to Ilocos Norte, the sister province of Shandong.

       

On February 14th, Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post paid a courtesy call to Michael V. Farinas, Mayor of Laoag City, exchanging ideas of future cooperation and presenting a gift.

 

On February 16th, Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post paid a courtesy call to Alfredo P. Valdez, Municipal Mayor of San Nicolas and had a cordial talk with each other.

On February 20th, Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post was invited to attend the Guling-Guling Festival of Paoay Municipality, Ilocos Norte, and made a speech.

 

On April 10th, Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post held a meeting with Madam Imelda R. Marcos, the former First Lady of the Philippines. With deep emotion, Madam Imelda recalled her first visit to China in 1975.

 

On April 11th, Chinese Ambassador Li Jinjun (Right 2), accompanied by  Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post (Right 1) attended the Ribbion Cutting of the Family Picture Show held by Madam Imelda.
