Consulate of the People's Republic of China held the 58th National Day Reception

Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post addressed the Reception

 

On the evening of September 28, in Fort Ilocandia, the Consulate of the People's Republic of China in Laoag held a reception on the occasion of the 58th Anniversary of the Founding of the People's Republic of China. The Hon. Michael M. Keon, Governor of Ilocos Norte, the Hon. Eustaquio P. Bersamin, Governor of Abra, the Hon. Amado Espino Jr., Governor of Pangasinan, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members of Ilocos Norte, Sangguuniang Panlungsod Members of Laoag City, Heads from regional offices of branches of National Departments, social celebrities, friends from Taiwan and Hong Kong, and around 300 representatives from Chinese Communities, Chinese Companies, Chinese students and teachers, Chinese workers in Laoag attended the function.

 

Chen Laiping, Consul & Head of Post addressed the Reception. Chen first sent his festival greetings to all guests and looked back on the past 58 years, especially the earth-shaking changes and outstanding achievements had brought out by Chinese people since the implementation of reform and opening-up policy in 1978. Chen also collaborated the concept of scientific outlook on development and of adhering to the road of peaceful development, as well as the strategic objective to build a harmonious society in China and to promote the construction of a harmonious world of seeking peace and common prosperity. Mentioning the bilateral relations, Chen said, an all-round way and strategic cooperation between China and the Philippines has been established, frequent high-level exchanges have been maintained and mutual political trust has been continuously enhanced. Chen also reiterated our consistent standpoint on Taiwan issue and expressed his confidence that great potentials and broad prospects were expected to exist in cooperation between the Chinese side and concerned parties within the consular district, and promised to continue working together so as to ink a new chapter for mutual cooperation and common development.

 

Since its opening ceremony in April 11th, it was the first of the Consulate held such a big reception which proceeded in a happy, solemn and warm atmosphere. Guests spoke highly of the outstanding achievements in the past 58 years and wished China a more prosperous future and may Philippine-China relationship last forever. Many Filipino Chinese also expressed their will to do their best to promote the Philippine-China relationship and friendship and the reunification of China.
