The new Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun had a cordial meeting with the Hon. Governor Mme. Imee Marcos on January 28th, 2017, the first day of the Chinese Lunar New Year of the Rooster.

Consul Wang told the Hon. Governor that she was very happy and honored to be appointed the new and the 5th Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag. China attaches importance to its relations with the Philippines including the Province of Ilocos Norte. Though she arrived in Laoag only a month ago, she felt strongly the friendliness of the local people towards the Chinese people. She said that she would work closely with the provincial government to further develop friendly relations and cooperation between China and the Province of Ilocos Norte. Consul Wang wished the Hon. Governor and the people of Ilocos Norte a very healthy, happy and prosperous Chinese New Year of the Rooster.
The Hon. Governor Mme. Imee Marcos reciprocated her best wishes for the Chinese New Year and welcomed Consul and Head of Post Mme. Wang Jianqun to Laoag. She recalled the fond memories of visiting China with her late father President Marcos in 1975. She said she would support the work of Consul Wang and work with her to elevate the friendly relations and cooperation between Ilocos Norte and China to a new high.
