Consul and Head of Post Wang Jianqun Paid a Visit to Baguio City

At the kind invitation of Hon. Mauricio G. Domogan, Mayor of Baguio City, the new Chinese Consul and Head of Post at the Chinese Consulate in Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun paid an official visit to the beautiful "Summer Capital of the Philippines" on January 26th to 28th 2017. During the visit, Consul Wang met with Mayor Domogan at the City Hall and exchanged views on further developing the existing friendly relations and cooperation between Baguio and cities in China. Consul Wang also attended a welcoming dinner in her honor jointly hosted by the Chinese Associations in the city. Consul Wang's visit to Baguio coincided with the Chinese Lunar New Year celebrations in Baguio. She attended the grand New Year Parade on January 27th and was the guest speaker at the Prize-Giving Dinner hosted by the local Chinese Associations in partnership with the Baguio City government.
   
Meeting with Mayor Domogan  Speaking at the New Year Dinner 
During their meeting at the City Hall, Mayor Domogan welcomed Consul Wang to his city and congratulated her for her new posting. He said that the Chinese living in his city were brothers and sisters of the local Filipinos. They had been making great contribution to the social and economic development of Baguio. The Chinese and Filipinos stood together through thick and thin. He also briefed the Chinese guest on Baguio, the city that he served as Mayor for so many years. Mayor Domogan expressed the wish to further expand cooperation with China through the Chinese Consulate in Laoag.

Consul and Head of Post Wang Jianqun thanked the Mayor for his gracious invitation to visit the "City of Pines" and attend various Chinese New Year celebrations which the City of Baguio had held annually since 1992. She also expressed her appreciation to the Mayor for his firm support to the well-being of the local Chinese community. As the new Chinese Consul and Head of Post, she would work with the Mayor and other city officials to further consolidate and expand the friendly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Baguio.

In her speech at the Prize-Giving Dinner, Consul Wang briefed the audience on China's recent social and economic development as well as China-Philippines relations. She talked about the "Belt and Road Initiative" and the opportunities and benefits it would bring to the Philippines including the City of Baguio. Consul Wang augured well for China-Philippines relations and wished everybody present a happy, healthy and prosperous Chinese Lunar New Year of the Rooster. A colorful performance of songs and dances was staged during the grand dinner. Invited guests included the Hon. Mayor Domogan, the Hon. Congressman Mark Go, city Vice Mayors and Councillors as well as leaders of the seven local Chinese Associations.
