Consul and Head of Post Wang Jianqun Attends the Chinese New Year celebrations at the Robinsons Place Ilocos

On January 29th, 2017, the Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun attended the Chinese New Year (Spring Festival) celebrations at the Robinsons Place Ilocos together with Mayor of San Nicolas Mr. Alfredo Valdez, Mall Operations Manager Ms. Blenda Alonzo, General Manager of Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel Mr. Yang Ritian and hundreds of local residents from the area. Students from Paoay National High School and St. Santiago Chinese School put on a colorful performance of Chinese songs and dances including lion dance, Chinese marshal art, vocal solo,Taichi fan and group dance, etc.

In her inspirational message, Consul and Head of Post Wang Jianqun welcomed everyone to this year's celebrations of the Fire Rooster and talked about the tradition of observing the lunar calendar in China and the significance of celebrating the Chinese Spring Festival among the Filipinos and Chinesewhich meant sharing each other's culture and tradition and working for peace and harmony. She spoke highly about the services offered by the Robinsons Place Ilocos to people living in the area including the Chinese Consulate in Laoag. Consul Wang wished everyone a prosperous Chinese Lunar New Year full of health, happiness and family.

In his remarks, Mayor Valdez welcomed Consul Wang to her new posting and extended his Chinese New Year greetings to all. He said the Chinese people living in the region were part of the local community. The local Filipinos liked the Chinese culture and were grateful for the contribution made by the Chinese in developing the local economy. People in his city would like to share the joy of celebrating the Year of the Rooster with the Chinese people.

The Robinsons Place Ilocos, the biggest shopping mall in town was decorated with Chinese red lanterns full of festive atmosphere. Hundreds of local residents enjoyed both the colorful performances and the delicious dim sum food prepared by the Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel. This was the third year that the Chinese Consulate in Laoag organized such a grand celebration of the Chinese New Year in partnership with the Robinsons Place Ilocos which was very well received by the local residents.
