Chinese Consul and Head of Post Wang Jianqun Met with Mayor of Laoag City Chevylle V. Farinas

The Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag City Mme. Wang Jianqun made a courtesy call on the Mayor of Laoag City Mme. Chevylle V. Farinas on February 8th, 2017 at the City Hall of Laoag City. The two sides exchanged views on further developing the existing friendly relations and cooperation between China and the Laoag City.

Mayor Farinas warmly welcomed Consul Wang to her city as the first female Chinese Consul and Head of Post. She happily recalled her visit to Wuxi City in China 12 years ago. She said Laoag City set up sister-city relationship with China's Laibin City of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in the year 2005, and hoped the two cities could find ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation. As the Mayor of Laoag City, she was ready to work closely with Consul Wang to promote bilateral exchanges and cooperation at the local government levels.

Consul Wang told Mayor Farinas that she felt deeply honored to be appointed as Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag, a city that had made great economic achievements in recent years under Mayor Farinas' leadership. Consul Wang congratulated her for winning the title of "Best Mayor in the Philippines of 2016". Consul Wang briefed Mayor Farinas on China's economic development and the current state of relations between China and the Philippines. She expressed the hope of establishing good working relationship with Mayor Farinas and jointly promoting exchanges and cooperation between local governments of China and the Philippines.
