At the invitation of the Hon. Mayor of Paoay Mr. Jessie Galano, the Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun attended the First Paoay Lake Dragon Boat Clinic and Race on May 6th, 2017.
In her message, Consul Wang congratulated Mayor Galano and his municipality for holding the event and talked about the legend of the Dragon Boat Race which was originated from China more than 2000 years ago. "The Dragon Boat Race has become a popular sports event not only in China, but also in many other countries in Asia and the world." she said. Consul Wang wished all the participants enjoy team work, display sportsmanship and have good luck.
Nine teams from Manila joined the seven teams from Paoay for the competition. For the past week, the Municipality of Paoay has been celebrating its annual Town Fiesta. This is the first time that Paoay included the Dragon Boat Race as one of its annual Town Fiesta activities.
