Mme. Wang Jianqun, Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag, held a reception at the Fort Ilocandia Resort Hotel to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on the evening of September 23rd, 2017.
Consul Wang delivers speech Consul Wang pointed out that the 19th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party will be convened next month in Beijing. This is an important congress which will draw the road map for national development and further opening-up. The 19th Party Congress will usher China into a new period of history that will be marked by prosperity, peace and win-win result. China will unswervingly adhere to the road of socialism with Chinese characteristics, carry out deeper reform, participate in globalization and develop friendly relations and cooperation with all the countries in the world. Consul Wang also briefed her audience on the recent development of China-Philippines relations especially the exchange of visits and trade and investment between the provinces in the consular district with China. She said that with the political decisions and personal promotion of Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Philippines President Duterte, China-Philippines relations have achieved overall turnaround with full recovery of exchanges in various fields and vigorous implementation of practical cooperation, which brings tangible benefits to the two peoples and is showing more positive prospects. Consul Wang talked about the content and the achievement of the "Belt and Road Initiative". She expressed that the "Belt and Road" is a cooperation platform featuring openness, inclusiveness, mutual benefit and win-win results, and the joint construction of the "Belt and Road" is the emphasis and highlight for China-Philippines cooperation in the next phase.
In his remarks, the Vice Governor of Ilocos Norte Angelo Barba congratulated on the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China on behalf of Governor Imee Marcos who was absent for the event because of other official commitment and the Provincial government of Ilocos Norte. "This event has a deeper and more profound meaning to our people as it was the late President Ferdinand E. Marcos who on behalf of the Republic of the Philippines worked for the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China. The foresight of this great statesman in recognizing the vital need of establishing relations through diplomacy has contributed much to the warm, open and friendly relations now existing with our biggest Asian neighbour, now an acclaimed world power." he said.
Mr. Peter L. Ng, President of the Baguio Cantonese Association also made a speech on behalf of the Filipino-Chinese community in northern Luzon congratulating the 68th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. He said that as Chinese or Filipino-Chinese living in the Philippines, they were all proud to see the social and economic achievements of China and the new development of China-Philippines relations. He shared the view that the "Belt and Road Initiative" is a wise one that would benefit the Philippines and the world.
Governor of Ilocos Sur Ryan Singson, Governor of Benguet Crescencio Pacalso, Vice Governor of Ilocos Norte Angelo Barba, Vice Governor of Ilocos Sur Jeremias Singson, Provincial Board Members from Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur and Isabela, Mayors or Vice Mayors of Santiago, Batac, Paoay, San Nicolas and Aurora, leaders of the Filipino-Chinese community organizations and volunteer Chinese teachers with several local schools were among the near 300 guests attending the stellar event. Students from Paoay School and the St. Santiago School Foundation Inc. . gave a stage of colourful performances.
