Chinese Consul and Head of Post Mme. Wang Jianqun Attended the 86th Foundation Day and Teacher's Day Celebrations of La Union Cultural Institute

On September 29th, 2017, the Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun attended the 86th Foundation Day and Teacher's Day celebrations as well as the foundation laying ceremony of the new classroom building of the La Union Cultural Institute in San Fernando.

As Guest of Honour, Consul Wang warmly congratulated the Institute on its 86th Birthday and the Teacher's Day in her address. She commended the Institute for its achievements in the past eight decades and more in teaching Chinese culture and language to its students who ranged from kindergarten to senior high school. "Graduates from the Institute have become valuable work force for the Philippines economic development and promoters for Philippines-China friendly relations and cooperation." she said. Consul Wang pointed out that cultural and educational exchanges were important part of the overall bilateral relationship between China and the Philippines. Both sides attached importance to these exchanges and cooperation to which the Chinese Consulate in Laoag would continue to render its support. Consul Wang wished the Institute new success in the years ahead.

 

In his speech, Mr. Cheng V. Chan Jr., Principal of the Institute welcomed and thanked Consul Wang for honouring the Institute on this auspicious occasion. He shared with his audience the history of the La Union Cultural Institute and his commitment in leading the Institute to better enrollment and teaching quality in the future.

 

Students and teachers of the Institute performed colourful Chinese and Philippines songs and dances during the celebrations to the wild applause of the over 800 audience.
