The Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun paid a visit to the Hon Governor of the La Union Province Francisco Emmanuel R. Ortega III at the provincial capitol on September 28, 2017. The two sides exchanged views on developing friendly relations and cooperation between China and the La Union Province and other issues of common interest.

Consul Wang briefed the Governor on the current China-Philippines relations and the “Belt and Road” Initiative put forward by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2013. She told the Governor that China attached importance to furthering the friendly relations and cooperation with La Union Province. As the new Consul and Head of Post to Laoag, she stood ready to work with the Hon. Governor and his provincial officials to open up new areas of cooperation.

Hon. Governor Ortega III welcomed Consul Wang to his province and briefed her about La Union and its development priorities and needs. He congratulated China on her economic and social development in recent years and committed to support the work of Consul Wang and work with her in expanding the friendly exchanges and cooperation between La Union and China in the fields of agriculture and tourism.
