Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun Met with Hon. Governor Imee Marcos

On December 17, 2017, the Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun met with Hon. Imee Marcos, Governor of Ilocos Norte, and some provincial board members.
 
At the meeting, Consul Wang briefed the Hon. Governor and her board members on the recently convened 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. She pointed out that the 19th Party Congress established the historical status of Xi Jinping thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a new era. It set China's goals for the next three decades and developed a roadmap and timeline to achieve them. The Congress also outlined China's foreign policy goal - foster a new type of international relations and build a community with a shared future for mankind.

Consul Wang summarized the bilateral exchanges and cooperation projects with Ilocos Norte in 2017 and thanked the Hon. Governor for her support to her work as Consul and Head of Post in the past year and committed to work closer with the Governor and her officials in the coming year to further advance the existing friendly relations and cooperation between provinces in China and Ilocos Norte.
 
Governor Imee Marcos thanked Consul Wang for the briefing and the opportunity to share views on furthering bilateral cooperation. She said that she was well aware of the importance of the 19th National Congress of the CPC and what it implied to China and the rest of the world. She was very impressed with the outcome of the Congress and China's economic achievements in the past five years. She also expressed satisfaction at the current state of relations between the Philippines and China especially the various cooperation projects between China and Ilocos Norte. As a province that closer to China geographically, Ilocos Norte was always ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in the years ahead, she said.
