Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun Met with Regional Director of the Philippines Police

On January 17th, 2018, the Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun met with PC Supt. Romula Sapitula, Director for the 1st Region of Luzon of the Philippines Police. The two sides exchanged views on China-Philippines relations and cooperation between the Chinese Consulate in Laoag and the Police Force in protecting the legal rights and interests of the local Chinese and the Filipino-Chinese community. PS Supt. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Director of Ilocos Norte Provincial Office and two Deputy Directors, Directors of the Laoag City Police Station and San Nicolas Municipal Police Station and Mr. Dave Pascual, liaison person for consular protection of the local Chinese community were present at the meeting.

 

 

 

Consul Wang briefed PC Supt. Sapitula and his officers on the current China-Philippines relations with emphasis on the increased volume of people-to-people exchanges between China and the 1st Region of Luzon. She thanked the Philippines Police Force for its efforts in protecting the legal rights and interests of the Chinese and Filipino-Chinese community in the past years and looked forward to closer cooperation between the Chinese Consulate in Laoag and the Police Force in the future.

PC Supt. Sapitula thanked Consul Wang for the opportunity to exchange views on closer cooperation. He pointed out that people-to-people contact between the Philippines and China dated back a long time ago. The oldest China Town in the world was in fact in the Philippines. Chinese living in the Philippines were good businessmen and very friendly. He and his officers were ready to work closer with the Chinese Consulate in Laoag on the protection of legal rights and interests of the Chinese and Filipino-Chinese community in the future.
