The Chinese Head of Post and Consul to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun met with the Hon Governor of the Batanes Province Mme. Marilou Cayco on September 29th, 2018. The two sides exchanged views on developing friendly relations and cooperation between China and the Batanes Province and other issues of common interest.

Consul Wang thanked the Governor for specially traveling from Batanes to Laoag to attend the Chinese National Day reception. "This fully shows the importance the Hon Governor attaches to China-Philippines relations and the cooperation with the Chinese Consulate in Laoag." she said. Consul Wang briefed Governor Cayco on China's recent development and China-Philippines relations. She told the Governor that China attached importance to furthering friendly relations and cooperation with Batanes Province. Batanes enjoyed a geographical advantage to enter into mutually beneficial cooperation with China. Consul Wang said that she would continue to work with the Hon. Governor and her provincial officials to open up new areas of cooperation. 

Hon. Governor Cayco thanked Consul Wang for her invitation to attend the Chinese National Day reception. She congratulated China on her 69^th birthday and the remarkable economic and social development in recent years. Governor Cayco recalled her successful visit to China last year and thanked Consul Wang and the Chinese Consulate for their support and assistance to Batanes development in the past year. She committed to work with Consul Wang in expanding the friendly exchanges and cooperation between Batanes and China in the fields of education, tourism and agriculture.
