In order to support Ilocos Norte to combat COVID-19 pandemic, the Consulate of the People's Republic of China in Laoag donated Personal Protective Equipments (PPE) including 2010 sets of coverall suits, 1000 pieces of goggles, 5000 pairs of medical shoe covers, and 10000 pairs of medical gloves. In partnership with the Provincial Government, these PPEs will be distributed to hospitals and testing centers as well as to the Laoag International Airport and Provincial Border frontliners.

On July 21, 2020, Chinese Consul and Head of Post Zhou Youbin, Governor Matthew Marcos Manatoc, and Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center Chief Dr. Maria  Lourdes K. Otayza attended the turn-over ceremony.
