Recently, the COVID-19 infectious cases are spiking in the Philippines. To help the local government units curb the further spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Chinese Consulate immediately donated 5000 pieces of KN95 masks each to Laoag City, Batac City, the municipality of San Nicolas in Ilocos Norte, Baguio City in Benguet, and Santiago City in Isabela.

Consul and Head of Post Zhou Youbin personally handed over the masks to the mayors of Laoag City, Batac City and San Nicolas. Leaders of the local Filipino-Chinese community were entrusted to turn over the masks to Baguio City and Santiago City.

Laoag City Mayor Michael Marcos Keon, Batac City Mayor Albert Chua, San Nicolas Mayor Alfredo Valdez, Santiago City Mayor Joseph Tan and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong expressed their sincerest gratitude to the Chinese Consulate in Laoag for the timely donation of anti-pandemic materials. It is believed that with the support of the consulate and other parties, the government and its people can work together to control the spread of the pandemic as soon as possible and restore the normal way of life of the people.
