The Chinese Consulate in Laoag Actively Promotes Beijing Winter Olympics

The festive season welcomes a grand event, and the celebration will last for days!

On February 4, the opening ceremony of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics was held. Beijing has become the first city in the world to both host the Summer and Winter Olympics. While celebrating the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger, the Chinese Consulate in Laoag has also actively promoted and introduced the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

On February 1, the Consulate and Robinsons Place Ilocos jointly organized the celebration of the Spring Festival and in the event, Consul & Head of Post Zhou Youbin delivered a speech pointing out that China is about to enter the “Winter Olympics moment.” With the world looking forward to China, China is ready and will dedicate a simple, safe and splendid Olympic gathering to the world. He likewise wished the Chinese and foreign ice and snow athletes more power and success.

Consul Zhou also thanked the Philippines for sending a delegation to Beijing to participate in the competition, and wished Filipino athlete Asa Miller excellent results.

On January 30, the Consulate and the City government of Laoag also began to broadcast a promotional film elaborately produced by the Consulate titled “Celebrating the New Year and welcoming the Winter Olympics” on the outdoor display beside the Gilbert Bridge. While warmly celebrating the Spring Festival of the Year of the Tiger, the promotional film highlights the elements of the Beijing Winter Olympics, briefly reviews the success of the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, the preparation process for the 2022 Winter Olympics, and the silhouettes of athletes from various countries, including Filipino athletes participating in the Winter Olympics. The content is refined with beautiful picture and strong visual impact.

China and the Philippines are working hand in hand to move towards the future together. The Consulate will continue to broadcast videos of Beijing Winter Olympics including the opening ceremony and highlights of the competitions to promote it in real time.
