Consul & Head of Post Zhou Youbin Attends Ribbon-cuttig and Unveiling Ceremony of the Baguio Chinese-Filipino Friendship Garden View Deck

On June 9, Consul and Head of Post Zhou Youbin, BaguioMayor Benjamin Magalong, representative of Baguio congressman, vice mayor, city councilors, and Chairperson of Baguio Filipino-Chinese Community Executive Committee Peter Ng and Chinese students attended the Ribbon-cutting and Unveiling Ceremony of the Baguio Chinese-Filipino Friendship Garden View Deck.

  

Consul Zhou said in his speech that today is the 47th anniversary of the establishment of China-Philippines diplomatic relations and the 21st anniversary of the establishment of China-Philippines Friendship Day. On this special day, we gather together to witness this important moment, and jointly unveil the third phase of the Baguio China-Philippines Friendship Garden - View Deck. The China-Philippines Friendship Garden is a symbol of China-Philippines friendship. It is believed that under the careful management and maintenance of the Baguio City Government, the Friendship Garden will surely become a new landmark that attracts tourists and become a new place for influencers in Baguio.

  

Consul Zhou reconfirmed that continuous consolidation and improvement of China-Philippines relations has brought tangible benefits to the two countries and the two peoples, and has also made positive contributions to regional peace and stability. China and the Philippines have stood by each other in anti-pandemic cooperation, deepened the traditional friendship between the two countries, and worked together to build a closer comprehensive strategic cooperative relationship.

Consul Zhou believed that the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping, President Rodrigo R. Duterte, and President-elect Bongbong Marcos not only ensured the smooth transition of China-Philippines relations and the continuation of friendly relations, but also opened up new horizons for future China-Philippines relations. With the care of the leaders of the two countries and the joint efforts of both sides, the future of China-Philippines relations will definitely be better.

In an interview with the Manila Bulletin and other media, Consul Zhou thanked people from all walks of life in the two countries who have contributed to the sustainable development of China-Philippines relations since the establishment of diplomatic relations.

  

Mayor Magalong said in his speech that on the celebration of the 21stPhilippine-China Friendship Day, Consul Zhou’s visit in Baguio is a strong support for Baguio City and reflects the friendship of the Chinese people. The local Chinese community is an outstanding citizen group of Baguio. Whenever Baguio encounters difficulties, the Chinese community is always the first to come forward and give generously.

Hundreds of local Chinese, residents of nearby communities and touristsattended the said event. Students from the Bell Church Sports Club performed wonderful lion dances and drums.
