Consul and Head of Post Zhou Youbin Pays Farewell Call on Ilocos Norte Governor Manotoc

On July 6th, Consul and Head of Post Zhou Youbin paid a farewell call on Matthew Marcos Manotoc, Governor of Ilocos Norte Province.

Consul Zhou thanked Governor Manotoc and all sectors of Ilocos Norte for their attention and input in China-Philippines relations, as well as their strong support for the work of the Chinese Consulate in Laoag. He wished that under the strong leadership of Governor Manotoc, Ilocos Norte will overcome the pandemic and restore the economy at an early date.

Consul Zhou said that since he worked in Laoag for three and a half years, he has witnessed the rapid and healthy development of China-Philippines friendly relations. At the same time, the friendly exchanges and cooperation between Ilocos Norte and China have been continuously strengthened. ChinesePresident Xi Jinping attaches great importance to the comprehensivestrategic cooperation between China and the Philippines. During the phone call with President Marcos, President Xi pointed out that the friendly cooperation between China and the Philippines should be executed persistently.

Consul Zhou mentioned,just today, Chinese State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi paid an official visit to the Philippines to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote future cooperation. It is believed that under the leadership of President Marcos, the friendly and cooperative relations between China and the Philippines, and the exchanges and cooperation between Ilocos Norte and China will definitely be improved to a higher level.

Governor Manotoc deeply regretted that Consul Zhou was about to leave office. He spoke highly of Consul Zhou's outstanding contribution to promoting the exchanges between Ilocos Norte and China during his term of office. He wishedConsul Zhou a smooth work in his new post, and hope that Consul Zhou will continue to care and support the development of Ilocos Norte.
