Consul and Head of Post Ren Faqiang Arrives in Laoag City

On October 25, 2022, the new Consul & Head of Post of the Chinese Consulate in Laoag, Ren Faqiang, arrived in Laoag City to take up his new post.

Ilocos Norte Provincial Board Member Donald Nicolas, Laoag City Mayor Michael Marcos Keon, and other officials and representatives of the Filipino-Chinese community in Ilocos Norte, as well as the staff of the Consulate, welcomed the new Head Consul in the Laoag City Airport.

Board Member Nicolas extended the warm welcome of the government and people of Ilocos Norte to the appointment of Consul Ren, and assured that they are willing to provide full support and assistance to him in the performance of his duties.

Mayor Keon likewise expressed the greetings of the City of Laoag to Consul Ren, and said that they will provide assistance and will work together with him and the Consulate in carrying out his work.

Consul Ren then thanked Board Member Nicolas, Mayor Keon, and the Chinese community for their special trip to the airport to welcome him, and expressed his gratitude to everyone for their continuous support to the consulate's work over the years.

He also said that China and the Philippines are good neighbors, good relatives and good partners, and that the North Luzon region which is being served by the Chinese Consulate in Laoag boasts beautiful sceneries with industrious people. He also mentioned that Ilocos Norte is traditionally friendly and has close exchanges with China, and isthe hometown of the current Philippine President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos.

He emphasized as well that under the strategic leadership of President Xi Jinping and President Bongbong Marcos, the two countries have had frequent high-level exchanges and have continued to deepen their cooperation in various fields.

Further, Consul Ren assured that in the years to come, the Consulate, under the guidance of the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines, will earnestly implement the consensus reached by the heads of state of both countries, and will continuously deepen the friendly exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and the provinces and cities in the consular district.

Lastly, he assured that the Consulate will actively implement the concept of "diplomacy for the people", and will safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens, Chinese-funded enterprises and Chinese students.
