On November 5, with the support of the Chinese Consulate in Laoag, the First Chinese Culture Fair jointly organized by Paoay National High School, Paoay Lake National High School, and Paoay Central Elementary School in Ilocos Norte Province was successfully held in front of the World Cultural Heritage—Paoay Church.

The event was attended by Consul & Head of Post Ren Faqiang, together with officials of the local government of Paoay, and attracted more than 200 elementary and high school students and parents.

Head Consul Ren warmly congratulated the opening of the festival and extended his appreciation to the teachers, students and volunteers of the schools for their love of Chinese culture and their efforts in disseminating it. He also hoped the children for the good results in their kite competition, and wished that may their futures soar high just like a kite rising against the winds.

With the theme of kite making and flying, more than 20 students from schools in Paoay participated in the competition. Chinese performances and interactive projects such as paper-cutting, calligraphy, chess, and Go were also enjoyed during the cultural fair. The Consulate also distributed rattle-drums to the participants.
