On November 9, 2022, new Consul & Head of Post Ren Faqiang of the Chinese Consulate in Laoag paid a courtesy visit with Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc，Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos and Provincial Board Member Donald Nicolas at the Provincial Capitol of Ilocos Norte. 

The two sides had friendly discussions on promoting local exchanges and mutually beneficial cooperation between China and Ilocos Norte.
