Ilocos Norte  Government and People Mourn  the Passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin

People from all walks of life in Ilocos Norte have expressed their condolences  for the passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin either by personally visiting the Chinese Consulate in Laoag or giving their message through calls.

Entrusted by Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc, who is on a business trip, Vice Governor Cecilia Araneta Marcos, together with the Provincial Board members of Ilocos Norte, went to the Consulate on December 6 to mourn the passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin.

“We condole with you on the passing of a great leader Jiang Zemin. Thank you for all the work you have done to usher in the development in the People’s Republic of China and the province of Ilocos Norte,” expressed by Vice Governor Marcos in the condolence book.

Laoag City Mayor Michael Marcos Keon also extended his condolence and said that former President Jiang Zemin was a great leader, and during his term achieved Hong Kong and Macau's return to China, experienced rapid economic development, promoted China-Philippines relations as well as China's relationship  with the rest of the world.

In addition, Ilocos Norte Filipino-Chinese community leaders also came to the Consulate to express their deep condolences for the passing of Comrade Jiang Zemin.
