Quirino - Forest Heartland Of Cagayan

Quirino is a landlocked province in the Philippines located in the Cagayan Valley region in Luzon and named after Elpidio Quirino, the sixth President of the Philippines. Its capital is Cabarroguis. It is the youngest Province in Cagayan Valley Region.

The province is dubbed the "Forest Heartland of Cagayan". An off-the-beaten-track destination geared towards eco-adventurers, the tourist attractions in the province include waterfalls, rock formations, river gorges, whitewater rapids and limestone caves. Besides the natural landmarks, the province aims to draw in outdoor sports enthusiasts with the annual motocross competition and a soon-to-rise wakeboard park at the Provincial Capitol grounds of Cabarroguis.

GEOGRAPHY: Quirino Province lies in the southeastern portion of Cagayan Valley. It is situated  with in the Upper Cagayan River Basin bounded by Isabela on the north, Aurora on the east and southeast and Nueva Vizcaya on the west and southwest. The Sierra Madre mountain range provides a natural barrier on the eastern and southeastern border and Mamparang range on the western part of the province. Quirino occupies a total land area of 305,718 hectares more or less which is approximately 11.75% of the Total Regional Land Area or 1.02% of the Philippines' Land Area.

LANGUAGE: The major dialect is Ilocano, spoken by 71.46 percent of the total populace. Other dialects are Ifugao, Bugkalot, Pangasinense and Kankanai. Some use Tagalog and English.

RELIGION: Roman Catholic (30%), Protestant (30%), Iglesia ni Cristo (30%), others (10%)
