Chinese Consulate in Laoag Holds the Reception in Celebration of the 76th Founding Anniversary of the People's Republic of China and the 50th Anniversary of China-Philippines Diplomatic Relations
On September 28, 2025, the Consulate of the People's Republic of China in Laoag held a reception to celebrate the 76th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines. Nearly 400 guests from different sectors and provinces attended this event. This includes Hon. Gov. Jeremias Singson of Ilocos Sur, Hon. Vice Gov. Dave Odiem of Kalinga, more than 10 honourable mayors from the consular districts including Mayor James Bryan Alcid of Laoag City, Mayor Ed Mar Vincent Bonoan of San Nicolas, Mayor Belen Fernandez of Dagupan City, Mayor Maila Ting-Que of Tuguegarao City, and Chief Mariano of Region 1 Coast Guard, as well as representatives from the Filipino-Chinese Community, the Chinese enterprises, and overseas Chinese students. Hon. Gov. Cecilia Araneta-Marcos of Ilocos Norte sent a congratulatory video message.

In his speech, Consul & Head of Post Ren Faqiang reviewed the development achievements made by P.R. China over the past 76 years under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China. China has always had a global perspective. After putting forward the Three Global Initiatives, China constructively proposed the Global Governance Initiative, contributing Chinese wisdom and solutions to global governance. Over the past 50 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries, China and the Northern Luzon of the Philippines have made considerable progress in cooperation in various fields. The Chinese Consulate will continue to work together with all sectors in the consular district to promote friendly exchanges and practical cooperation between us.

Gov. Singson, Mayor Alcid and Mayor Bonoan delivered speeches respectively, praising China’s achievements in economic and social development and the tangible benefits brought to the people by the half-century friendship between the two countries. Mr. Alex Sia, on behalf of all the overseas Chinese in the Northern Luzon region, congratulated the founding of the People’s Republic of China and wished the motherland peace and prosperity.
Amidst the cordial and lively atmosphere of the reception, the host and guests engaged in a heartfelt conversation about their friendship. Teachers and students from Mariano Marcos State University, the Confucius Classroom of Paoay National High School and Ilocos Norte National High School presented wonderful performances.
