Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi Meets with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Solihbaev

On May 8, 2008, Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Uzbek Deputy Foreign Minister Solihbaev Anvar Saidovich, who is here in China for the consultation between the two foreign ministries.

Wang said China attaches great importance to ties with Uzbekistan, as well as the important role played by the country in international and regional affairs. China is ready to work with Uzbekistan to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, continuously deepen bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation on politics, economy and trade, security and humanities, and strengthen coordination within the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and other multilateral organizations, so as to promote common development and prosperity.

Solihbaev said China is a sincere friend and partner of Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan always regards its ties with China as one of the priorities of its foreign policy and will continue to support China's positions on questions related to Taiwan, Tibet and combating "East Turkistan" terrorist forces, said Solihbaev, adding that Uzbekistan is ready to keep closer cooperation with China on bilateral occasions and within the SCO and other multilateral frameworks for the benefit of both countries and their peoples.
