On November 15, 2023 local time, President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden held a summit meeting at the Filoli Estate in San Francisco, the United States. After the meeting concluded, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi gave a readout on how the meeting will impact the current and future China-U.S. relations to the press upon request.

Wang Yi said, the San Francisco meeting is significant for enhancing trust, removing suspicion, managing differences and expanding cooperation between China and the United States. It is also significant for injecting certainty and stability into a world of turbulence and transformation. Under the stewardship of the two presidents, the giant ship of China-U.S. relations has navigated hidden rocks and dangerous shoals. The journey from Bali to San Francisco has not been an easy one. However, San Francisco should not be the finish line; it should be a new starting point. We always believe that China and the United States eventually should and can find the right way to get along. This is a historical inevitability, the trend of our times and the expectation of the people. Next year will mark the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and the United States.
