On September 7, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi met with Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Eloina Rodriguez Gomez, who is in China for the 17th meeting of the China-Venezuela High-Level Mixed Committee, in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that under the strategic guidance of President Xi Jinping and President Nicolás Maduro Moros, China-Venezuela relations have maintained sound and steady development. Both sides strengthen solidarity and coordination and firmly stand on the side of justice and peace, and the right side of history. This not only safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of both countries but also upholds international fairness and justice. China and Venezuela have forged an unbreakable, ironclad friendship. China firmly supports Venezuela in safeguarding national independence and national dignity, and is a reliable friend of Venezuela. China is ready to work with Venezuela to make good preparations for the next stage of high-level exchanges, make the 17th meeting of the High-Level Mixed Committee a success, and push for new progress in and create new prospects for China-Venezuela cooperation, which will not only benefit the two peoples but also make new contributions to world peace and stability.

Rodriguez said that in the face of the pandemic challenge and the complicated international landscape, the cooperation and mutual support between Venezuela and China have demonstrated a profound brotherly friendship. Venezuela sincerely thanks China for its firm support for Venezuela's just cause of opposing unilateral sanctions and unreasonable blockades and for supporting Venezuela in building an independent and dignified country. She believes that Venezuela-China relations will embrace an even brighter future. The willingness of more than 40 countries in the world to join the BRICS fully demonstrates that the world yearns for fairness and justice, calling for a more just and equitable global governance system. The Venezuelan side highly appreciates the series of significant global initiatives put forward by President Xi Jinping, admires China's sense of responsibility and wisdom as a major country and is willing to continue to strengthen international coordination and cooperation with China.
