On September 6, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Grenadian Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development Joseph Andall in Beijing.

Wang Yi said that Grenada is an important country in the Caribbean region and a friendly and cooperative partner of China. Since the resumption of diplomatic relations, China and Grenada have always respected each other and treated each other as equals, and bilateral relations have become increasingly mature. China highly appreciates Grenada's commitment to the one-China principle, respects Grenada's sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, and supports Grenada in exploring a development path that suits its own national conditions. China is ready to join hands with Grenada to open up new prospects for bilateral cooperation.

Andall said that China, featuring a great ancient civilization, has scored enormous development achievements today. China has always fully respected and treated Grenada, a small country, as an equal, providing valuable support for Grenada's efforts to develop its economy and improve people's well-being. The cooperation between Grenada and China has yielded fruitful results. Grenada cherishes its relationship with China, and will firmly adhere to the one-China principle and be a trustworthy friend of China. The Belt and Road Initiative, the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, and the Global Civilization Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping are conducive to promoting world peace, stability, development and fairness, and are of particular significance for small and medium-sized countries. Grenada highly appreciates the fact that China fulfills its responsibilities as a major country, speaks up for justice in international affairs, and shares the benefits of development with Global South countries. Grenada is ready to take an active part in the important global initiatives proposed by China.

Wang Yi stressed that China is ready to work with other parties to advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, share opportunities, and promote common development and prosperity. As a natural member of the Global South, China will continue to stand firmly with the vast number of developing countries to safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, especially small and medium-sized ones, and defend international fairness and justice.
