On the morning of December 13, 2023 local time, Peng Liyuan, wife of President Xi Jinping, accompanied by Phan Thi Thanh Tam, wife of Vietnamese President Vo Van Thuong, visited Vietnam National University in Hanoi.

Peng Liyuan was warmly welcomed by Phan Thi Thanh Tam upon arrival. Student representatives welcomed her on both sides of the road, holding flowers and waving national flags of China and Viet Nam, in a warm and friendly atmosphere.

Peng Liyuan heard a presentation on the university's establishment, operation, and international exchanges, among others, and expressed the hope that both sides will further strengthen educational exchanges and cooperation, and said that more Vietnamese youths are welcome to study in China to enhance mutual understanding and friendship.

At the cultural center of the university, Peng Liyuan and Phan Thi Thanh Tam had cordial exchanges and interactions with representatives of Vietnamese students who are learning Chinese. The students happily shared their experience of learning Chinese and gave a small talent show. Peng Liyuan gave a thumbs-up to the students' Chinese proficiency and diverse talents. Noting that language is a bridge for communication, Peng Liyuan encouraged them to study Chinese diligently, gain a better understanding of China, and be envoys for China-Viet Nam cultural exchanges, so that the China-Viet Nam friendship can be passed on from generation to generation.
