Wang Yi Holds Talks with Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar

On January 15, 2024 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi held talks with Tunisian Foreign Minister Nabil Ammar in Tunis.

Wang Yi said that this year, which marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Tunisia, is of great significance to inheriting the past and ushering in the future. China is ready to take this opportunity with Tunisia to take stock of the successful experience, carry forward traditional friendship and write a new chapter in China-Tunisia friendly cooperation. The two sides should continue to firmly support each other on issues concerning each other's core interests and major concerns, so as to provide a solid foundation and inject strong impetus into bilateral relations.

Wang Yi said that Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era provides fundamental guidance for China to build itself into a stronger country and rejuvenate the Chinese nation on all fronts by pursuing Chinese modernization. China's development in the new era has also provided a useful reference for other countries intending to speed up development while maintaining their independence. China will promote the modernization of the world with Chinese modernization, and is ready to share its governance experience with Tunisia and support Tunisia in enhancing its capacity for independent development, so as to achieve common development and prosperity.

Ammar said, Tunisia and China share extensive common interests and the same values. Bilateral relations enjoy a solid political foundation, sound momentum of development and inspiring cooperation results. Tunisia cherishes its friendship with China and sincerely thanks and will always remember China's support and help. Amar reiterated that Tunisia has always firmly upheld the one-China principle and is willing to work with China to continuously push for new and greater development of bilateral relations.

Both sides agreed that China-Tunisia relations enjoy broad prospects. They will strengthen high-level exchanges, add strategic substance to bilateral relations and expand all-round cooperation.

The two sides will strengthen solidarity and coordination to jointly safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries, uphold the principle of non-interference in internal affairs, and promote international equity and justice.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and agreed to continue to jointly support the just cause of the Palestinian people to restore their legitimate national rights.
