From January 15 to 17, 2024 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Liu Guozhong, upon invitation, led a Chinese government delegation to visit Algeria. During the visit, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui respectively met with Liu Guozhong. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on China-Algeria relations and cooperation in various fields.

Liu Guozhong conveyed cordial greetings from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang to President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui respectively, and spoke positively of Algeria's development achievements. Liu Guozhong said that China and Algeria are sincere friends and natural partners in the pursuit of common development and national rejuvenation. In July last year, President Abdelmadjid Tebboune paid a successful state visit to China, during which the two heads of state reached common understandings. China is willing to take the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Algeria comprehensive strategic partnership this year as an opportunity to work with Algeria to continue to firmly support each other on issues related to their core interests, promote exchanges and cooperation within the framework of high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, closely coordinate and cooperate in international and regional affairs, and make positive efforts to build a community with a shared future for mankind.

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Prime Minister Nadir Larbaoui respectively asked Vice Premier Liu Guozhong to convey their cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. They said that strengthening cooperation with China is a strategic choice for Algeria. Algeria is willing to actively participate in Belt and Road cooperation and attract more Chinese enterprises to invest in the country for mutual development. Algeria-China relations are unbreakable. The two sides share a broad consensus on major international and regional issues. Algeria is willing to work with China to defend international fairness and justice and safeguard the common interests of developing countries.

During the visit, Liu Guozhong also held a meeting with representatives of the Chinese medical team to Algeria.
