On August 9, Consul & Head of Post Ren Faqiang of the Consulate of People's Republic of China in Laoag was invited to attend the 119th Ablan Day in Ilocos Norte to commemorate Filipino World War II hero and former Gov. Roque B. Ablan, Sr.

During the commemoration, Ren had friendly exchanges with Gov. Cecilia Araneta-Marcos, Laoag City Mayor James Bryan Alcid, and the Abran family members, and jointly remembered the Filipino hero who fought against Japanese aggression.
