On June 26, 2026, Consul & Head of Post Li Xiaoyan of Chinese Consulate in Laoag met with delegates of the City Government of Laoag who were returning from the 2026 RCEP Local Governments and Friendship Cities Cooperation (Huangshan) Forum in China's Anhui Province. The delegation included City Planning & Development Coordinator Ruby Ann R. Bunalade, OIC Tourism Officer Mary Jane P. Leaño, and City Engineer Marishel B. Batuac.

Consul Li listened to the delegates' briefings on their participation in the forum, and expressed that the Consulate is willing to continue actively promoting the expansion of exchanges between Laoag and Huangshan and deepening sister-city cooperation.

The delegation thanked the Consulate and Huangshan City for the valuable opportunity, shared their observations and impressions from their visit, and spoke highly of China's economic and social development achievements. They expressed their readiness to deepen practical cooperation with Huangshan in areas such as tourism, agriculture, education, and infrastructure construction, setting an example for subnational exchanges between China and the Philippines.
