Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui Holds Consultations with Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Azimov

On May 30, 2007, Chinese Assistant Foreign Minister Li Hui and visiting Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Beyukaga oglu Azimov held consultations between the two Foreign Ministries, exchanging in-depth views on bilateral ties, as well as international and regional issues of common concern. Li said since the establishment of diplomatic ties 15 years ago, bilateral relations have been developing smoothly with continuously deepening cooperation of mutual benefit in all areas and sound coordination in the United Nations and other international organizations. China attaches importance to ties with Azerbaijan and is ready to make joint efforts with it to expand exchanges between the two countries, to push for steady development of bilateral ties.

Azimov said the government of Azerbaijan takes the ties with China as a priority of its foreign policy and is satisfied with the sound development of bilateral ties. Over the years, both sides have conducted fruitful cooperation in bilateral and multilateral areas and have also deepened mutual understanding, he said. The deputy foreign minister pledged his country would firmly adhere to the one-China policy and commit itself to all-round development of bilateral friendly cooperative ties.
