Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun Attended the 17th Philippine-China Friendship Day Celebrations in Baguio

June 9th, 2018 marked the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of the Philippines. To celebrate this important occasion, the city government of Baguio and the Baguio Filipino-Chinese community jointly hosted the 17th Philippine-China Friendship Day activities in Baguio. Chinese Consul and Head of Post to Laoag Mme. Wang Jianqun attended the activities together with Hon. Mayor of Baguio Mr. Mauricio Domogan, city government officials and leaders of the local Filipino-Chinese community organizations.

 

In her remarks, Consul Wang highlighted the great achievements in China-Philippine relations since 2016 under the personal guidance of Chinese President Xi Jinping and the Philippine President Duterte. She congratulated and thanked the city government of Baguio and the Baguio Filipino-Chinese community organizations for hosting the 17th Philippine-China Friendship Day to celebrate the 43rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the Philippines. She spoke highly of the contribution and commitment of the local Filipino-Chinese community to the society and to the promotion of understanding and friendship between the Chinese and the Filipinos. 

   

The Hon. Mayor Domogan also made inspiring messages. He talked about the historical contributions made by the early Chinese immigrants to the Philippines in the past centuries to show the importance of maintaining friendship and cooperation between the two countries and two peoples. He thanked the Filipino-Chinese community in Baguio for their constant support and contribution to the local societies. 

   

At the ceremony, the local Filipino-Chinese community lion dance group gave a splendid performance. Consul Wang joined Mayor Domogan to distribute gifts to the local Barangay Day Care Centre volunteer teachers.
